Neil Simon’s Fools is a hilarious laugh riot with a touch of heartfelt romance. This fun-filled farce for the CUSD Theater Season at the Dan Pessano Theater is located at the CUSD Performing Arts Center and will be performed by the Buchanan High Drama Department. This is the perfect show for a post-STAR and AP testing laugh. Leon Tolchinsky (Kolbe Brennan), a young school teacher from Moscow, unwittingly takes a job offer to teach Dr. Zubritsky’s daughter Sophia (Grant Sherwood and Alexa DePasquale respectively) in the fictional Ukrainian Village of Kulyenchikov. What Leon discovers is that the town is under a 200-year-old curse of stupidity. He has 24 hours to teach Sophia or he will fall victim to the curse himself.
The cast is made up of some of Buchanan High’s best comic actors who were part of the first place Improvisation team at the Long Beach State TheatreFest in April. The show runs May 17, 18, 19 (matinee and evening performance 19th only) and May 24, 25, 26, 2012. Curtain is at 7:30 (2:00 PM for the matinee) and tickets are available in Buchanan’s drama room. Thank you to all who auditioned! It was incredibly difficult to come to a decision on each part because everyone who auditioned was fabulous. We deliberated over 45 minutes before coming to a consensus. Congratulations to the cast! First cast meeting will be tomorrow after school from 3-5 P.M. for a quick run through of the script before spring break. You can pick up your scripts any time tomorrow in the drama room.
